Police Announce $10,000 Reward For Overbrook Robbery Suspect

OVERBROOK -

Police investigating a string of robberies targeting women now have a big reward for leading them to an arrest and conviction. The latest robbery happened yesterday when a woman was robbed at knifepoint in the rear of Brookhaven Rd.

Officials have announced a $10,000 reward for the conviction of a serial robber who has been terrorizing women in the Overbrook Park neighborhood. The suspect is responsible for up to 8 robberies since January 8.

Police have released a composite sketch of the man was released. He is being described as a light skinned black male between 20-27 years old. He's got a light mustache and last seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.

During one robbery on the 6700 block of Lansdowne Ave, the suspect threatened a 51-year-old woman with children. The man stated "You don't want anything to happen to these kids" while carrying a knife. He then lunged at her and the children. He took her bag and fled through the playground and into the woods.

"He's knocking females to the ground he's using force he's also producing a knife that we hope never gets used we are looking to get this guy off the street as soon as possible" Captain John Przepiorka of Southwest Detectives said.

The incidents happened on 1300 Pennington Rd, 7600 Brockton Rd, 7500 Malvern Ave, 6700 Lansdowne Ave, 1200 N. 75th St, 7500 Lansdowne Ave in Overbrook. One of the 8 attacks was caught on surveillance video last month.

Police say the man was last seen on foot running north thru an alley from 7500 Brookhaven Rd. If you have any questions or information about these incidents, please call Southwest Detectives at 215-686-3183.
