Search For Allegedly Violent Robber In South Philadelphia

The search for an unknown robber continues after a 57-year-old female was allegedly assaulted and robbed on the 1200 block of Ellsworth Street.

The Wharton resident was caught off guard by an unknown male when he approached her from behind. He then struck her in the back of the head with an unknown object, knocking her to the ground.

The event took place on Feb. 12 around 8 a.m.

After the robbery, the woman was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital with minor injuries.

The 5-foot-4-inch, 130-pound man ran away and was last seen running north at the 12th Street crossing of Washington Avenue.

Police urged civilians not to approach the suspect but to call 9-1-1 immediately.
