A northwest suburban man who won $250,000 in the lottery said he will use the money to pay for his children to go to college.

Kenneth Jakubzak, 66, a lifetime resident of Itasca, won the prize in the Feb. 19 Lucky Day Lotto drawing, according to the Illinois Lottery.

Jakubzak's 22-year-old daughter recently graduated from the University of Iowa and plans to go to medical school, and his 21-year-old son is still in college, a statement from the Lottery said.

"My priority is to help my children fulfill their educational aspirations," Jakubzak said in the statement.

Jakubzak bought the winning Quick Pick ticket at 7-Eleven at 1156 S. York Rd. in Bensenville. The store will receive a $2,500 bonus, one percent of the prize amount.
