Community helps family of Navy Yard shooting victim by taking on home repair projects

Posted: Updated:

A bittersweet gift is being given to the family of a Navy veteran killed during the Navy Yard shooting.

A community effort is underway to help the family of Martin Bodrog, who was the first victim of the rampage back in September.

He was in the middle of many home projects when his life was tragically cut short.

Home Depot's worker volunteer force, along with folks from Immanuel Baptist Church in Springfield, will help with work on Bodrog's Annandale home.

They will finish projects that Marty was working on when he died.

Bodrog was a surface warfare officer and a 22-year veteran. He left behind a wife and three daughters.
