PHOTO: Soldier father meets baby for first time

Posted: Updated:

Meet 7-month-old Harper Tesar, an adorable baby waiting to meet her military father for the first time.

Her daddy, US Army Specialist Cole Tesar, took this photo of his little girl as he arrived home from his 9-month deployment in Afghanistan.

Harper was born while Cole was overseas. She greeted him with a Carly Rae Jepsen-inspired sign that said, 'Hey, I just met you and this is crazy, but my name's Harper and I'm your baby!'

The photo has captivated dozens of hearts online.

Cole says his family is grateful for the outpouring of support.

"It is kind of different because it is my own baby; it is our own blood. It is definitely special, and it is a pretty good feeling," he told WOWT. The couple got married shortly before Cole's deployment.

"With ultrasounds and when I went into labor and doctor's appointments, it was hard not having him there," Cole's wife Logan said.

"Knowing that when it was all said and done, I would be with my family, I would be able to hold my baby for the first time, and be back with Logan and start a family," Cole said.

This time is precious for the family. Cole said the first thing he wants to do with his daughter is watch cartoons!
