Batkid's Appearance Cut From Oscars

Posted: Updated:

Batkid did not quite make the cut for a guest appearance at the 86th annual Academy Awards last Sunday.

Miles Scot was scheduled to make a surprise appearance at the Oscars with Spiderman star Andrew Garfield, but the scene was cut last minute.

The family of the 5-year-old leukemia survivor was extremely disappointed when they heard the news.

Miles' mother, Natalie Scott , told the Business Times. "I know that's how TV goes and how Hollywood is. We're just not used to that; we're from a really small town."

Garfield and Scott reportedly did a dress rehearsal Saturday. It went well and was really emotional, but then a couple hours later they were informed the piece did not fit with the Oscar's tone.

The day was not completely shot.  Garfield and the Scott family went to Disneyland on Monday.

Scott was diagnosed with leukemia when he was just a one-year-old toddler.  Last November, the Make-A-Wish Foundation learned that he wanted to become batman.

He spent the day driving around in his ‘batmobile' and fighting villains.
