Army Sergeant Receives Special Surprise From The Phillies

Posted: Updated:

An Army Sergeant woke up to a special surprise from his heroes on Friday.

Sgt. Joey Andreaccio was given a thank you outside his home in Bucks County this morning.

The 29-year old's favorite baseball team, the Philadelphia Phillies, gave a tribute to the veteran for his service to our country.

"To see his face when he first walked out of that door and realized what was happening, that was priceless," said former Phillies pitcher, Tommy Greene.

That surprise included a personal delivery of his Sunday season tickets from none other than Phoebe Phanatic, with a face to face with former Philly Tom Greene who threw a no-hitter in 1991, and video chat with current Phillies star Cole Hamels.

Sergeant Andreaccio has many emotional ties to the team.

"He's probably the biggest Phillies fan in the world. We met at the Phillies game, now it will be four years in June and it's just been a huge part of our relationship," said Sergeant Andreaccio's girlfriend, Corrie Gorman.

The USO and the Phillies have teamed up before to bring cheer to loves of the enlisted, but this was different.

"This is the first time the USO and the Philadelphia Phillies really knocked the socks off a kid," said Liberty USO President, Joe Brooks.

After his second tour of duty, Sergeant Andreaccio is right where any Phillies fan would love to be in his hometown.
