A U.S. Soldier gets a hero's welcome home in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The 11-year army vet returned from his second deployment to Afghanistan.
FOX 29's Jennifer Joyce was there for the joyous homecoming.
They rolled up and rolled out a true hero's welcome rallying the red, white and blue for an American Hero.
Us Army Captain Chris Denton recently returned from his second tour of duty in Afghanistan.
Denton and his wife U.S. Army Captain Amy Martino knew this day would be special. They celebrated their marriage with friends and family in Cherry Hill, but had no idea they were about to receive such a strong show of support for their service from their loved ones and strangers.
"We didn't know what was going on we heard all the noise, the fire trucks, I thought there was a fire," Martino said.
But instead, there were medals, plaques and a flag all for a touching celebration.
"Obviously we don't do it for the spectacle but I can honestly say this is the first time I've had a welcome home party," Denton said.
That had Captain Denton close to tears.
"There's a lot of soldiers out there not all have come home It's the team, not just us individually," Denton said.
Denton and Martino felt the community's appreciation for their service.
"We come and go in the wee hours of the night probably unnoticed by most thank you for taking the time to come out and notice," he said.
