Police: Video Shows Teens Wanted In Brick Attack On Student

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

It has happened again. A female Temple University student has been the victim of an attempted robbery. Police say two teenage girls tried to steal her purse.

This comes on the heels of another attack, during which a 19-year-old woman was hit in the face with a brick.

Police have released this surveillance video of the four wanted suspects. The attack happened on Friday at 17th and Norris streets near Temple's campus.

Police say after the incident the group ran and jumped on a SEPTA bus.

The victim was treated for injuries to her face and teeth.

A campus alert on the incident didn't go out until Monday night, 75 hours after it happened, FOX 29's Steve Keeley reports.

It mentions that there have been "multiple off-campus assaults," and it goes on to explain why an alert was not issued Friday by saying: "An alert is issued when there is an immediate or imminent threat to the campus community and/or some immediate action is needed to be taken by the campus community. In this case, Temple was not made aware of the attacks until several hours after the events took place. By the time Temple Police received information about the incident, additional monitoring was already taking place in the area. To be clear, the TU Alerts are designed to make you aware of an immediate threat or ask you to take action that will change your normal behavior and keep you safe. It is not a method of reporting crime on or around campus."

The message from Jim Creedon, Temple's senior vice president for construction, facilities and operations, goes on to say that, "Philadelphia Police have begun their investigation to find the group. Temple is assisting by reviewing video footage that may be available in the area."

Keeley has more details in this video report.
