Massive I-95 Pothole Leads to Dozens of Stranded Drivers

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA -

A big pothole on north bound I-95 caused quite a mess for drivers on Saturday.

A section on I-95 just after the Walt Whitman Bridge and before the Columbus Boulevard exit has had some lane shifts recently due to road construction. Today it became a parking lot with stranded drivers putting their hazards on, trying to figure out how to deal with a surprise flat tire.

Drivers say the rainy conditions on Saturday made visibility poor, making it difficult to see the pothole.

Driver, Kham Doxie, says he has to buy a new tire and a new rim.

"By the time you see it because it was raining so hard, and it was so deep, you know what I'm saying, you couldn't swerve or you would have caused an accident. So I had no choice but to take on the pothole," explains Doxie.

The Pennsylvania State Police did assist some drivers and Penndot was called to the scene.
