Posted: Updated:

Police in Florida are investigating a fist fight that happened outside a McDonald's restaurant. A customer pulled out her phone and captured it all on video.

On Saturday March 29 approximately at 11:20 p.m., a McDonald's patron was punched in the face during an altercation in the drive thru lane.

Police say 68-year old Howard Carl Wilson was in one lane of the double drive thru at a McDonald's while Brittani Thomas was a passenger in a vehicle in the adjacent lane. Thomas' vehicle pulled in front of Wilson's after ordering when the altercation began.

Wilson was heard by witnesses and on video yelling profanities and racial slurs towards the other vehicle. After a few moments, Wilson exited his van and approached the passenger side of the vehicle where the victim was sitting. Thomas eventually opened the door according to police.

The encounter continued for almost two minutes while Thomas is seen in the video attempting to close her door multiple times. Wilson held the door open prohibiting Thomas from closing it while he continued yelling. Police say Wilson punched Thomas in the face and left the scene as other vehicles in line began to move forward.

Officers located Wilson at his home where he admitted to being at McDonalds where he stated he was only at the other vehicle for no more than 15 seconds. He said he was angry because the other vehicle cut him off and he almost struck it.

He told the officers, "It was like a road rage incident."

Wilson was charged with Simple Battery and booked into the Polk County Jail where he has since bonded out according to Winter Haven Police.
