Traffic delays after truck overturns on BQE

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - A tractor trailer that overturned early Wednesday morning on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway was cleared several hours later and caused significant delays during the morning rush.

Traffic was backed up for several miles after the eastbound lanes were closed at Atlantic Ave.

Vehicles were diverted at Hamilton Ave.

Motorists who travel northbound on the BQE were encouraged to plan an alternate route as crews performed repair work to a guard rail damaged by the truck which flipped on to its side at about 4:30 a.m.

Traffic delays were also extensive on the Gowanus Expressway as a result of the incident.

Taxis come in yellow, green, black, and now... hot pink? They're called SheTaxis and they are from a cab service for women by women. (The cabs aren't actually pink, but drivers will carry pink pashminas.)The service is coming to New York this week. You could almost think of it as an all-female Uber.

You've probably seen Airbnb commercials extolling the benefits of homeowners renting out their houses or apartments to out-of-town guests for a fee. Sharing is caring feel-good commercials. But housing activists say Airbnb is reducing available housing in New York City's increasingly expensive and shrinking housing market. They argue Airbnb is pushing thousands of apartments toward use as illegal hotels instead of affordable housing.
