Almost 6.4 million Toyotas will be taken off the road worldwide. Eight models that comprise 1.7 million cars have been recalled in the United States.

This recall expands upon a 2013 recall that included 2003-2004 Corolla and Matrix models.
Toyota reports that the recall is due to faulty airbags that deactivate spontaneously. They also report that there have been no injuries or deaths and the airbag warning light illuminates when the problem occurs.
