Police Release Details About Suspect Accused of Shooting Child

Philadelphia Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating suspect Marcelus Temple for the shooting of an eleven year-old boy in North Philadelphia.

On April 6, 2014 at 3:49 pm, 22nd District officers responded to a report of a shooting on 1500 North Gratz Street

The first officer on location observed the victim, an 11-year old boy, in the doorway of a home on 1500 North Gratz Street bleeding profusely from a single gunshot wound to the side.

The boy was transported to Temple University Hospital by police where he was rushed to surgery and listed in critical condition.

The complainant was stabilized and transported to Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children for additional treatment.

The complainant was playing basketball with friends when he was shot. His friends related that an unknown black male was walking south on Gratz Street when an unknown male or males opened fire from a vehicle.

The unknown male returned fire and fled on foot. Ballistic evidence was located on the corner of Gratz and Oxford and on the 1500 block of North Gratz Street.

Marcelus Temple is 19 years-of-age, 5'8", 195 lbs., black hair, and brown eyes. Police say he is considered armed and dangerous.
