Elderly Man Shows Off His Toilet Seat Museum

Posted: Updated:

An elderly man in Alamo Heights, Texas has a unique collection.

Barney Smith spent years collecting toilet seats covers.

It is creating a lot of press for the retired plumber.

It all started when Smith's dad mounted trophy heads on plaques. Barney thought about it for a while and reasoned that a toilet sea could be a great substitute. It is shaped like a plaque and a used one is free.

Barney began making art on toilet seat lids in his garage in 1992 , which is now the Toilet Seat Art Museum.

"It became a Museum when they put me on the local TV stations," he said.

Smith now has up to 1,069 toilet seat lids!

Barney, who is in his mid-90s, says he often work often labors until the early hours of the morning. "I can't even eat when I'm hungry or sleep when I'm sleepy when I'm working on toilet seats."

None of his artwork has ever been for sale. He keeps them all. He says they're a kind of toilet seat lid scrapbook of his life.
