Century old graves are suddenly up for sale.
Trinity United Church of Christ in Telford is auctioning off acres of land it's owned since the 1800s.
"We don't want to lose this piece of history or piece of community," explains owner, Les Freed.
The church is making the unusual move to sell its cemetery because it needs the money. The cemetery has six empty acres along with the area for graves.
One bidder is already eyeing for construction but the church is hoping a good samaritan will step in.
Freed can't image the land being use for something commercial. He says, "developed as houses. Nah that'd be heartbreaking. But if it has to happen it has to happen."
Price tag for the undeveloped land stands just under $800,000. The church says the graves will be negotiated in the deal.
Eric Kratz lives nearby and walks his dog river here. He says he's never heard of anything like this.
"It is shocking," says Kratz.
Still church members are hoping and praying for some divine intervention.
