Biblical Texts And Artifacts On Display At The Passages Exhibit

Posted: Updated:

Some of the rarest biblical texts and artifacts can now be found at an exhibit called "Passages" in Missouri.

The bible museum in Springfield opened its doors on April 12th, on the eve of the holiest week of the year.

With 22 themed biblical rooms, the 30,000 square ft. interactive exhibit has more than 400 items from the Green Collection, along with scriptoriums, interactive characters and a replica of the Gutenberg's press to show the evolution of the bible.

"When you walk in one of the first items you're going to see is a 3000 B.C. piece, in cuneiform,"David Trobisch, director of the Green Collection said, "This exhibit is dedicated to the history of the bible."

Trobisch explained that he was amazed how everything came together for the exhibit.

"Well, yesterday when it was all set up, I had to pinch myself. This is unbelievable that you could put this together in this space. So many things that are dedicated to the bible that are hard to get to. What I would wish for a deeper appreciation about how many people have worked on keeping that bible alive," Trobisch shared

Springfield is the 5th city to host the "Passages" exhibit. It will remain open until next January.
