Gloucester City Man Accused Of Stabbing His Pregnant Mother To Death

Posted: Updated:
CAMDEN COUNTY, N.J. -

"I love you dude," Emotions were running high in court as 21-year-old Leon Wilson was lead in to face murder charges in the stabbing death of his own mother, who was 8 months pregnant when she died Sunday night after a violent confrontation with Wilson inside their Jersey Avenue home.

"Dr. Fine conducted the autopsy this morning, and he found approximately two dozen incised wounds on Scarlett Wilson's body," the prosecutor told Judge Edward McBride.

"She is a person who just keeps to herself, says hi to everybody. Give you the shirt off her back. It's very mind boggling , very very shocked," said neighbor Sam Reven.

Family members packed the courtroom and struggled to come to grips with news of the murder and the emergency delivery of Scarlett Wilson's baby. Wilson was stabbed multiple times inside the two story home. The victim was raced to Cooper Hospital where she died and doctors delievered her child.

"As of right now, they're doing everything they can to save this baby," Reven said.

"I can't even imagine what. I can't even talk," the victim's cousin Dorelle Wilson told reporters outside the court house. "I feel for both them."

Police say they responded to 9-1-1 call from inside the house just before ten. When they arrived, they ordered Leon Wilson out of the house. He came out the front door with bloody clothes and a knife and surrendered. Once inside they found Scarlett Wilson stabbed and bleeding badly.

"Nicest person in the world and makes you think right away, who would do something like this to that person," Reven added.

Investigators won't say who made the 9-1-1 call from inside but neighbors say Wilson does have an 8 yr old daughter. Police believe an argument lead to the murder. The witness told police she heard an argument and then the victim yell "no, no, no."

"It's just a sad story, tragedy, it's a real bad tragedy," Reven said.

Wilson was ordered held on $1 million bail. Family members left court surrounded by security and victim witness aides. There's no word on who will now care for the baby or the victim's eight year old daughter.

Officials say the baby is in critical condition.

Video games may be pure fantasy, but a violent action-adventure game called "Watch Dogs" has ignited a very real debate in one South Jersey community. Watch Dog allows players to adopt the persona of a James Bond-like computer hacker, chasing an evil mastermind. People say it's chock-full of foul language, sex and violence, features dark and foreboding backdrops. The latest version, which is due out this fall may be set in Camden.
