Two Southern NJ Nuclear Plants Are Offline

Posted: Updated:
LONGPORT, N.J. -

Two southern New Jersey nuclear plants are off-line.

Officials say one was taken down because of a problem last night with a fuel pump. There was a change in voltage causing the system to shutdown automatically.

"PSEG Nuclear" says it's investigating the issue and it's not sure when it could be fixed.

The same unit was offline for a few days last week because of a wiring issue with a steam generator.

The other unit is down for a regularly scheduled refueling, which is done every 18 months.
