The mind behind "24" brings us "Small Time," an intimate family drama that unites some of TV's most recognizable faces: "Law & Order" alum Chris Meloni, Dean Norris (a.k.a. Hank Schrader from "Breaking Bad"), and "Blue Bloods" actress Bridget Moynahan.

"I read 'Small Time' and it's just one of those scripts that just reads perfectly," she said.

The story follows divorced used-car dealer Al (Meloni) and his son Freddy, who chucks college out the window to work with his old man on the lot. This is the directorial debut for "24" co-creator Joel Surnow who first wrote a draft of "Small Time" back in 1976 about his salesman father.

Moynahan plays Barbara, Al's ex-wife and Freddy's mom, who does not approve of Freddy's choice to follow in his father's footsteps.

"You spend your entire life planning and raising and protecting and guiding this child to go off into college," she said.

After high school graduation, Moynahan didn't exactly do what her folks had in mind either.

How did her family react when you said you wanted to be a model and actress?

"Totally freaked out," she said. "No, they were not happy."

That conflict may eventually come full circle as Moynahan readies her son John for the real world. But she still has a few more years left to mentally prepare for that transition.

How would she react if her son wants to work in the entertainment industry?

"Right now he wants to be a gator boy and rescue alligators," she said.

NYPD probing raising of white flags at Brooklyn Bridge

The NYPD is investigating a major security breach at the Brooklyn Bridge, one of the most highly secured landmarks in New York City. Two white flags — international symbols of surrender — fluttered from poles on the stone supports that hold cables above the bridge connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan. The flags had a faint appearance of the stars and stripes. The American flags that are normally up at the bridge appeared to have been removed.
