South Jersey Wildfire Destroys 1,500 Acres, Continues To Burn

Posted: Updated:
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.J. -

A forest fire is continuing to burn Thursday morning in Cumberland County, N.J.

It started around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Downe Township, and it has been growing ever since.

Right now, there's more than 1,500 acres destroyed but, fortunately, there are no homes in danger.

Crews are letting it burn out and say the fire could grow even larger before all is said and done.

The National Weather Service has extended a Red Flag Fire Weather Warning until 8 p.m. Thursday, meaning the high winds and dry conditions will continue.

SkyFOX over the scene near Ackley Road in Downe Township on Wednesday night showed the fire scene glowing orange in the night, and we get another fresh look at the smoky fire from the sky Thursday morning.
