Pennsylvania Cashier Receives A Life Changing Tip

Posted: Updated:
HARRISBURG, Pa. - A young student working tough hours at a local restaurant gets a life-changing tip from a customer with deep pockets.

Melissa Manier, 25, was working her way through college when she befriended a local customer, Benjamin Olewine, at the Peachtree Restaurant and Lounge.

Manier opened up to the man about her struggle to pay off her loans.

Little did she know her new friend was a local philanthropist.

Olewine recalls, “I asked her about how she was paying for books."

Manier responded, “I said, I have student loans but, I am gonna have to pay them back."

Olewine then offered to pay the girl's loans, which left Manier in a state of shock.

"At first, I didn't exactly understand what he meant,” says Manier.

Mainer says she is currently enrolled in online classes and will soon earn her bachelor's degree.

In the meantime, she now employed at an area hospital, ironically, in the hospital's Benjamin Olewine Wing!

Manier continues, "While I was in school, after he'd started paying for me, my dad passed away, I just keep thinking of him right now. He'd be, like, just, so shocked and just so happy for me."

“I think that's the most important part of the story, is that he helped me, so I just want to help everyone else,” says Manier .
