Quick Thinking NC Man Hides Under His Home During Dangerous Storm

A quick moving storm hit parts of North Carolina hard Friday causing one man to seek shelter under his home and watch the roof blow away.

"Don't take life for granted,” says Antonio Richardson.

A good lesson Antonio Richardson learned the hard way. He was in his back yard with a friend when heavy winds came up fast.

Richardson continues, "I heard something like a train. My buddy hollered ‘what are we going to do, what are we going to do?’ I said I don't know. So we ran over there. It feels like the wind was lifting me up like that. We ran over here and just kicked that in and slid over there in there."

They crawled under his mobile home but they didn’t think they home would be enough to save them

“It happened so fast.  I have never seen anything like that in my life,” recalls Richardson

It was a game of hide and seek with the storm.

Winds snapped perfectly healthy trees in half and started to take apart the home they were hiding under.

"It just peeled back like you do a banana. My roof is lying over there. You see my roof lying in the woods.”

But his hiding place was good enough. Richardson lost a lot but he is glad he's around to tell us about it.
