Wednesday is a typical hot and humid summer day with high tempertures in the low 90s.  A cold front will pass by Wednesday night bringing a few showers and the return to cooler temps and less humid air by Thursday.

The holiday weekend is looking warmer and unsettled. Shower and thunderstorm chances increaselate Sunday and Labor Day.

PHILADELPHIA -

It shouldn't surprise you that we had a record-breaker in Philadelphia for rainfall yesterday.

April showers? It was a last-day-of-April deluge with 4.42 inches of rain. The old record from 1947 for that date was 3.29 inches.

And a lot of other records were broken all over the place, with over 6 inches of rain, approaching seven, in Glenmoore, Chester County. Pottstown had over five and a half inches every rain, and it was around five inches in Medford, N.J.

A Coastal Flood Advisory continues right now, and there's a Flood Warning throughout the area. Every body of water pretty much spilled over its banks at some point, FOX 29's Sue Serio said.

Our official Philadelphia rainfall total, factoring in Tuesday's rain, too, was 4.81 inches. And it was 4.6 in Wilmington.

There is a little more on the way. It's not going to add great amounts to those rainfall totals, but you'll see the scattered showers sin some places, and you'll still need the rain gear Thursday – just not every minute, like you did Wednesday.

There was also an isolated thunderstorm south of us. We'll see if it holds together.

For the rest of the day, we can expect on-and-off showers, as we're not finished with this thing yet. But we'll also see some sunshine. That's what makes a difference from Wednesday. Also, look how much warmer it is at 75 degrees. And it will be 70 on Friday as we finally start to dry out.

SLIDESHOW: FOX Futurecast

There's a slight chance of showers on Saturday, but compared to what we have, it is no big deal.

And it should be pretty nice, really, for the first weekend of May, with temperatures in the upper 60s both days.

That dry weather continues through the middle of next week. That will be a sigh of relief.
