Two Year Old Boy Falls Into Uncovered Pit

Posted: Updated:
A massive rescue effort is still underway after a two-year-old boy falls into a pit in India.

Video from the scene shows machines and construction crews digging through the dirt trying desperately to reach the little boy.

The boy's father says his son was playing, when he slipped and plunged 30 feet into a borewell.

It happened Saturday in the city of Guwahati in northeastern India.

Crews are now using a camera, placed inside the borewell, to monitor the boy, while the rescue efforts continue.

The boy's father says he has repeatedly asked the owner to put a cover on the borewell, but claims nothing was ever done.
