Penn Grad Student Hurt In Bizarre Crash Dies Of Injuries

A University of Pennsylvania graduate student injured Tuesday after a freak accident on the Walnut Street Bridge has died, police said Wednesday morning.

According to police, the victim was an innocent bystander who was walking along the bridge when two cars crashed.

Investigators say he grabbed the light pole for safety, but one of the cars swerved and hit it.

Both the student and the pole tumbled 45 feet to the ground.

The student had been hospitalized in critical condition, but police said he was pronounced dead at 10:03 p.m. Tuesday. His identity was not immediately being released.
