North Coventry TWP., Pa.-Police have arrested a man who they say accidentally shot an 8-year-old boy while he was riding his bike in Pottstown, North Coventry Township on Friday night.

According to authorities, Wayne Snowden, 55 of North Coventry, has been charged with aggravated assault and related charges.

Police say it appears he fired a random shot that struck the child.

The police investigation revealed that the shot allegedly came from the area of the suspect’s home. Investigators say they also recovered two handguns from the suspect’s home.

At the time of the shooting, authorities say, Snowden was on his porch standing at the door of his residence speaking with individuals inside with a handgun in his hand. According to police, Snowden raised the handgun and fired a single shot in the direction of Coyne Alley.

A.J. Hagner was flown to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, along with his father, after the shooting that was reported before 5 p.m.

His family said the bullet went through an artery in his leg, but he did not need surgery.
