Police Investigate Deadly Hit-And-Run In Paulsboro

Posted: Updated:
PAULSBORO, N.J. - Police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run that occurred early Sunday morning around 4:30 a.m. in Paulsboro, New Jersey.

Fox 29's Dave Kinchen reports.

According to authorities, Eddie Lee Warthen, 31 of Gibbstown, N.J., was ran over several times by a vehicle that drove off with at least two people inside.

Warthen was transported to Cooper Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

"It's tearing me apart but hey, it's part of life," said Warthen’s cousin Thomas Young.

Young calls the act shameful.

"Whoever did it, a bunch of cowards. You understand?" Warthen said.

He says his cousin's death was no accident.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office is now leading the homicide investigation, but the motive remains unclear.

Paulsboro Police and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office say they are seeking two subjects who fled in a sliver or gray sedan, which is believed to have body damage.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or its occupants is urged to contact either Det. Greg Malesich at (856) 384-5626 or Det. Gary Killle at (856) 423-1100.
