MARYDEL, Del. (AP) - Emergency officials say two people were injured when high winds damaged about a dozen homes in the Kent County community of Marydel.

Colin Faulkner, director of the Kent County Division of Emergency Management, said Thursday afternoon's winds also brought down trees and power lines. He said there have been reports that a funnel cloud was spotted.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the area from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., but it has not confirmed that a tornado touched down.

Faulkner said two adults were taken to Kent General Hospital in Dover. He did not describe the extent of their injuries. He says no one is reported missing, and no one is trapped in a damaged structure.

Utility companies reported a few thousand customers were without power.
