Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA - East Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators and Police Internal Affairs blocked off the 4400 block of North 8th Street in Hunting Park early this evening. It's where police shot a 23-year old man suspected of breaking into a home moments before on the 4300 block of North Franklin Street. Investigators say when two uniformed officers in a marked car got there the suspect was on the porch, they ordered him to stop but they say he took off running.

"Police officers went in pursuit, ordered the male to stop but the male then pulled a weapon from his waist and pointed it at the officers. One of the officers discharged his weapon several times," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
But i
nvestigators say the suspect continued to run.  One of the officers attempted to cut him off by driving the police car in front of him. That officer then got out of the car his partner was still on foot.

"At this point the suspect is running with a weapon in his hand. The suspect pointed his weapon again at the other officer who was in full uniform. The other officer then discharged his weapon, " said Chief Inspector Small.
They suspect was shot in the arm, leg, and torso. He's in stable condition at Temple Hospital. Police say no one was home at the time of the burglary.
