Spring Garden - The mother of suspect Ryan Fitch says her 23-year old son was standing up for his girlfriend when he may have lost his temper.

Fitch who is studying to be a nurse is at Central Detectives still being questioned for his role in a scary day at the Community College of Philadelphia.

Tonight, police detectives were hauling away the car driven by Fitch. Police say it's the car he was driving after taking off from the terrifying scene at the Community College of Philadelphia.

Fitch was taken into police custody after they say he pulled a gun on another student inside the west building at 17th and Spring Garden. His mother tells us another man’s advances on his girlfriend triggered the argument.

The report led to an hour long lockdown as Police SWAT Teams went room to room, looking for the gunman.

“He was pointing the gun at the student,” said student David Fowler.

Fowler was in chemistry class when he heard the commotion.

“As soon as the gun was pulled out everyone ran out of the classroom as fast as we could,” said Fowler.

90 minutes later the CCP was given the all clear when it was determined the gunman had fled.
