World War II Veteran Lives Out His Dream

Tipton-Pa.- He’s wanted to take a carnival swing ride for decades. Now, a 90-year-old veteran from Pennsylvania is getting that chance.

Raymond Nazarak served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

He has stomach cancer and was given 2 months to live, but that was 2 years ago.

Nazarak says, when he was younger, he always wanted to take the swing ride called the Yoyo, but he didn't have the money.

His daughter and granddaughter recently took Nazarak to Delgrosso's Amusement Park, where they helped strap him into the Yoyo.

Did we mention Nazarak was a paratrooper?

"I did everything I wanted to do, jump out of airplanes, work in the coal mines," said Nazarak. "I'm 90 years old. What the heck are you gonna do? You can't do nothing."

His family thought the carnival would be a great way to spend the day.

"We thought this would be a good place to come and enjoy the sunshine," said granddaughter Teresa Byron. "He mentioned he always wanted to ride it when he was younger but didn't have the money."

 After all these years, Nazarak didn't have to go home without enjoying his dream ride.

"Yea, when we was kids we couldn't get enough nickels to get on the damn thing," said Nazarak. "All you could do was smell good popcorn, good hot dogs. Just smell it and then go home.”

The people at the amusement park say Nazarak has a pass to come back whenever he wants.
