SPCA: 9 Dogs Seized From 'Deplorable Conditions' In Delco

Posted: Updated:
BROOMALL, Pa. - Delaware County SPCA Humane Society Police says they have confiscated nine dogs from a home in Broomall.

Humane Society Police Officer Ron Riggle says the dogs taken from the home on Thursday evening were heavily matted, covered in their own urine and feces, and very scared.

The Delaware County SPCA Director of Shelter Medicine, Dr. Kimberly Boudwin, examined the dogs as they were brought into the shelter. The young adult dogs are breeds of Llasa Apsos, Shih-Tzus, Maltestes and Yorkies.

According to the SPCA, the scene inside revealed "deplorable conditions."

"This is one of the top three worst cases of neglect we've seen," said Riggle. "The living conditions were unbelievable."

All of the dogs have been surrendered to the Delco SPCA and will be available for adoption after they are treated and groomed.

The investigation of the previous owners is ongoing.

The Delco SPCA is requesting donations for the care of the animals. Donations can be made at www.delcospca.org or mailed to the Delco SPCA at 555 Sandy Bank Road, Media, PA 19063.
