Postcard Received 67 Years Late

Posted: Updated:

DAYTONA BEACH- A postcard has finally arrived in Daytona Beach, Florida, 67 years late.

A postcard, sent from San Francisco, arrived at the Peabody Auditorium earlier this month.

The only problem?

It was postmarked June 1st, 1947.

Now officials are trying to find its intended recipient, Dolores Callahan, who was the assistant auditorium manager at the time.

"It’s quite the mystery and so we're putting some things on Facebook to see if anyone knew the Beards or knew Dolores who might have been the manager here so were going to try and unravel it its quite the mystery," said Helen Riger, Peabody’s executive director.

The Peabody Museum burned down in 1946, before the letter was sent.

The second auditorium opened in 1949, and it's possible the sender did not know of the fire.

Staff at the Peabody have said the postcard will be on display, while they try to find Dolores or the sender.
