Gainesville coffee house serving java and helping 'G.I. Joe'

Gainesville, FL -

Toni Zyburt can make you a jammin' cup of joe at Gainesville's Outpost Coffee Shop.

"We offer locally roasted coffee and espresso drinks," said Zyburt.

Ask about her best cup of brew, and there's no hesitation, but there's more happening here than meets the eye.

There are hints in the conversations. The coffee talks here have a distinct military focus and there's good reason too.

"All of the revenue and proceeds from the shop... directly support the Warrior Institute programs," said Zyburt.

The Warrior Institute is a non-profit program helping veterans. The organization takes veterans on recreational trips combined with biofeedback.

Helping them learn to calm and ultimately heal emotional scars.

"A lot of times they say their head space is like really cluttered and… things of that nature. And then… at the end it's just like… very focused um… almost you know… very serene… and very calm," said Program Manager John Porter.

Now, the Warrior Institute has a consistent way to fund its programs and gives veterans a friendly gathering place. A place with a purpose, and share a mean cup of coffee.
