Florida Judge Accused Of Punching Attorney

Posted: Updated:
Brevard County, Fla.- A Florida judge is accused of punching an assistant public defender during an altercation in a hallway outside a courtroom.

In the courtroom video from Judge John Murphy's courtroom, attorney Andrew Weinstock appeared belligerent when the judge asked him whether his client wanted to waive his right to speedy trial.

The same scenario then played out again for the attorney's next client, which led to another argument.

What happened next shocked the entire courtroom.

Weinstock’s supervisor, Public Defender Blaise Trettis says attorney Andrew Weinstock called and told him the judge beat him up in a courtroom hallway.

"According to the attorney, as soon as they entered the hallway, the judge grabbed the attorney by the collar and began to hit him about the head," said Trettis."And it sounded like he was pushing him against the wall, and one of the deputies went back there, and said we will lock you up. And it was silent after that."

Witnesses say only the judge came back out of the hallway after the melee, and took his seat back on the bench.

Everyone in the courtroom was left stunned.
