Officials say there may be lingering odors nearby after a spill Tuesday morning at a chemical plant in Bucks County.
The reported "tote spill" from a container of ethyl acrylate occurred around 8:30 a.m. at the Altuglas plant in Bristol, Pa.
"Plant personnel immediately cleaned up the spill but there may be lingering odors," the company said in a news release issued at 11:30 a.m. "Ethyl acrylate is a raw material used in the manufacture of plastics. It has a strong odor and can be smelled even in very low quantities. It can cause eye, skin or respiratory tract irritation."
Arkema Inc. is recommending that you immediately seek medical treatment if you believe you are experiencing medical symptoms or physical discomfort due to personal exposure to the ethyl acrylate.
Arkema reports that it is cooperating with local authorities and an investigation will be performed.
At least one viewer reached out to FOX 29 on Tuesday morning, reporting that he smelled "some nasty odor" in the riverside areas near Cinnaminson and Delran.
