Angels of God Looking To Make Up For Stolen Funds

Posted: Updated:
PITMAN, N.J. -

An organization that gives back to its community members in need finds itself asking for help tonight.

Thieves have put a halt to its efforts, but there is a way to change that.

Angels of God Clothing Closet in Pitman, New Jersey has spent the last 5 years giving back to roughly 8,000 people.

This week, the non-profit needs your help.

17-year-old founder Katelyn Darrow says during last weekend's annual yard sale fundraiser, a cashbox filled with several hundred dollars was stolen.

The money raised was going to pay for back to school clothing and supplies for local children and operating costs.

One donor said the organization helped her family of 5 when she and her husband were out of work.

Angels of god is now gearing up for a make-up yard sale this Saturday.

Word spread quickly about last weekend's theft on Facebook, and in the last few days Angels of God has received mountains of donations for this weekend's yard sale in hopes of recouping all of the money lost.

"I think we have double the items we had last week it's really exciting," said Katelyn.

The pitman high school senior never went to police, instead, she keeps a smile on her face and forgiveness in her heart.

"I was definitely really disappointed at first but I realized whoever took it needed it more than we did trying to be forgiving in that sense," explains Katelyn.

Darrow says years ago her family's house burnt down and the community came through in a big way, now they're focused on giving back, and looking forward.

"I feel that everything happens for a reason and hopefully the sale this week will make up for what we lost and maybe even make more than what we made last weekend," said Katelyn.
