Brazilian-inspired workout at Crunch

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

If I say "Brazil," you'd probably say "World Cup." But you may also say beautiful bodies, perky posteriors, smokin' supermodels. So in honor of the World Cup being held in Brazil, the unofficial capital of hot bodies, I thought I'd try out Crunch's Brazilian-inspired workout.

"Brazilian women are known for the small waistline, curvaceous but strong hips, and the 'boom boom': tight, lifted, perky -- the booty," said instructor Michele Bastos.

OK, then it was time to get this boom boom in shape with the help of Michele, who is Brazilian. The first section was cardio. Michele had us do samba, some capoeira-inspired moves, and then what she very technically called the booty shake. And even some soccer moves for all you World Cup fans.

But you can't get a hot bod without a little burn.

"Then we go into the Brazilian toning with light weight for sexy shoulders sexy arms," Michele said.

And it really did burn using just 2.5-pound weights and keeping our thighs in a squat position. Talk about two birds one stone.

And, alas, it was time to work on what Brazilian women are best known for: those tiny waists and perky derrieres, which Michele had us work on with some isolated behind moves. We did some side planks to whittle down those waists, plus some Pilates-inspired crunches. Even the ab work was like dancing. And apparently that's the key to Brazilian hotness.

"We dance to celebrate life. We dance almost every weekend," Michele said.

Well, any country that turns out countless Victoria's Secret angels and has a bikini bottom named after it, must know something about fitness, right?

A bicycle rental war is being waged in Central Park by Columbus Circle. Bike and Roll is a Parks Department-sanctioned bike rental with rental booths in the park complete with helmets and bouncer-size security guards. Bike and Roll's president says his employees are being threatened and harassed by non-licensed illegal vendors in the park while they hawk to tourists. The individual vendors, who appeared to be trying to rent out bicycles using pedicab licenses, were not friendly to us, either.
