Pennsylvania Dogs Get More Protection With Bulletproof Vests

LANCASTER, PA -

Police dogs in Pennsylvania are getting more protection with bulletproof vests.

This, after a K-9 nine named Rocco was killed in the line of duty in Pittsburgh earlier this year.

The tragedy prompted police agencies across the country to invest in protection for their K-9 like Train, shown in the video.

The vests comes from vested interest in k-nine incorporated, a non-profit fundraising organization that provides protective gear for police dogs across the country.

Officers say the dogs' safety is a top priority.

We're doing some situational training on building clearings,” said Officer Dianne Carter, Southern Regional PD. "These dogs would die in the line of duty and give their lives for the public just like an officer would. Keeping him safe is huge but remembering those other dogs who died in the line of duty is huge."

The organization has donated the vests to more than 350 police dogs nationwide.
