FOX 29 Weather Authority's Forecast For 1st Weekend Of Summer

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The end of the countdown has arrived, FOX 29 Chief Meteorologist Scott Williams says! Summer officially begins with the summer solstice Saturday morning at 6:51 a.m.

With 15 hours of sunshine, "It's going to be the longest day of the year, so of course enjoy the beautiful weather."

"All in all, Saturday doesn't look that bad," Williams said.

CHECK: Live Ultimate Doppler Radar

The day starts with mostly cloudy skies across the area. There could be a spotty shower throughout the day, so we'll call it partly sunny across the area.

"We're not anticipating a washout by any means," Williams said.

SLIDESHOW: FOX 29 Futurecast

We're expecting a high of 79 degrees in Philadelphia on Saturday with a few showers around. We'll call it an "8" on our "Weather by the Numbers."

Sunday looks like a "10," with a high of 83. It will be a sunny and nice day.

Down the shore, look for those passing clouds with a high of 74 Saturday, then a sunny Sunday with a high of 76. Ocean temperatures are now near 70 degrees.

Expect dry conditions in the lower-70s Saturday in the Poconos, while Sunday looks to be in the upper-70s.

If you're in Dover, Del., for the "Firefly Music Festival," there could be a few spotty showers around Saturday as temperatures rise to 80. Sunday's forecast high is 81.

And don't forget about the Manayunk Arts Festival, celebrating its 25th anniversary. We're expecting mostly beautiful conditions, although there is again that chance of showers Saturday. The highs will be 79 and 83.

As we move into the workweek, Monday appears to be a "9" with a high of 84.

Tuesday looks partly cloudy at 85, and there's a better chance of scattered storms during the latter half of the week with temps staying in the mid-to-upper-80s.
