SOMERDALE, N.J. -

Residents of Somerdale, New Jersey, welcomed home Shannon McGory and Natalie Bellini on Thursday night.

The two returned home from a year deployment in Bahrain and Kuwait.

McGory was most recently in Bahrain serving in the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Freeholder Board and Camden County Office of Veterans Affairs joined her family, friends and neighbors, along with the Defenders Motorcycle Club, The Warriors Watch Riders, Operation Yellow Ribbon of South Jersey, the New Jersey State Police, the Mt. Ephraim Police Department, the Runnemede Police Department and the Runnemede Fire Department for the celebration.

McGory says she was completely surprised by the turnout.

“You know we just did our job,” said McGory. It's nice to see familiar faces and see people I don't know and come out and support us. I appreciate it. And I know Natalie appreciates it, too. We are completely humbled," she said.

McGory is a Sterling High graduate. She has received awards for her role in President Ford's funeral and President Obama's inauguration.
