Police: Robber Throws Bleach In Beauty Store Clerk's Face

Posted: Updated:

Police are asking for the public's help to identify a man who threw bleach in the face of a female clerk during a robbery at a beauty supply store. And it wasn't his first time in the store.

The robbery happened inside S&J Beauty Supply located at 2417 Welsh Road in Pennypack back on May 15 at 12:50 p.m. Northeast Detectives say.

Officers in the 8th District responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress and, upon arrival, spoke to the 19-year-old clerk. She said a man and woman entered the store, selected a few items and then left without purchasing any items. A few hours later, they both returned, picked an item and approached the counter to pay.

But when the clerk opened the cash register, the male suspect threw bleach in her face and grabbed about $100 cash and her iPhone 4S.

Police said the woman – identified as 19-year-old Debra Warren, of the 1600 block of East Ruscomb Street, who also goes by the name Jackie Holland – was arrested the next day. She's charged with robbery and related counts.

But the male is still at large, and police released the surveillance video Friday in hopes that someone will recognize him. Investigators described him as black, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 160 to 170 pounds, wearing a black jacket, a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants, glasses and a black backpack.

If you see these suspects, police said don't approach them; call 9-1-1 immediately. To submit a tip, call 215-686-TIPS (8477), text to PPD TIP (773847) or submit it anonymously using this online form.
