California Twins Born Blind With Rare Condition

Posted: Updated:

STOCKTON, CA- Twins in California are born with a rare condition, as their parents struggle to find proper assistance.

Nearly two-months-old Jameson and his brother Jackson, are stricken with a condition known as Anophthalmia.

Which left Jameson with one eye and Jackson without any vision at all.

Parents Summer Hollingsworth and Michael Lopez, are struggling to deal with their children's issues financially as weekly visits to specialists begin to take their toll.

The family set up a page on the GoFundMe.com, in the hopes of raising $20,000.

"It was a punch in the stomach, you were hoping it would be ok and it wasn't," said Lopez.

"Jameson was born without his left eye. Jackson was born with an under developed right eye and he's missing his left eye and he has a club foot," explains Hollingsworth, "they see an endocrinologists... three different Ophthalmology specialist... we travel back and forth."

Research shows that Anophthalmia is present in three out of every 100,000 births and could be connected to genetics.
