Posted: Updated:
OCEAN CITY, N.J. -

The Coast Guard, state and local agencies have resumed their search Monday morning for a 14-year-old boy who went missing in the water Sunday near 9th Street in Ocean City.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday, U.S. Coast Guard watchstanders were alerted by the Ocean City Police Department to the missing boy.

According to the Coast Guard, the boy was last seen swimming with friends when they were all swept out by rip currents. The entire group was tossed around in the ocean, but the other swimmers made it back to shore. The 14-year-old was the only one who had not yet resurfaced.

The boy is reportedly wearing white swimming shorts.

Crews suspended the search around 4 p.m. on Monday.
