Oregon Man Celebrates His 110th Birthday

Posted: Updated:

Portland,OR-The year was 1904, the president of the United States was Theodore Roosevelt and the New York City subway system officially opened for business. It was also the year that Portland resident John Hart Sr. was born.

On Saturday, he celebrated his 110th birthday with a family gathering at a local park.

Hart is the oldest living man in the state of Oregon.

He has four children, two boys and two girls, as well as multiple generations of grandchildren.

His family says the best part of Hart's birthday for him was being with the ones he loves.

"He’s kinda of a laid back, quiet person, but he's a loving a man and he loves to see the family together and having a good time,” said granddaughter Rosetta Forbes.

Hart says the key to his longevity is to get a lot of rest, eat healthy, and don't drink or smoke.

"I’m feeling pretty good. Some days I have good days, some days I have bad," he said.
