Well Kept Oxford Circle Home Oddly Fined For Garbage

Posted: Updated:

A spry and orderly great grandmother couldn't believe it when she got a $50 litter fine for her home.

She's out every day keeping it spic and span, and our Karen Hepp set out for Oxford Circle working to get results.

Connie is nearly 88-years-old, her daughter emailed Fox 29 Monday morning, upset her mom, got a ticket for not having a litter free home, she thinks it's just not fair.

Connie Hamilton is proud of her family and her home. She raised 5 kids by herself after her husband died 50 years ago, so she knows how to run a tight ship.

She is frustrated because she goes outside every day to pick up trash when she gets her paper. Every day! Plus, once a week she sweeps, she keeps everything neat. So she couldn't believe it when the city slapped her with a $50 fine… for trash!

"I'd like to see it go away, I don't think it's fair, because I clean every day, every morning I clean whatever is out there," said Connie.

Connie says she can't sweep every minute of the day, plus, she never saw a ticket, and certainly never got a warning, just a letter in the mail saying city inspectors had found trash 6 weeks earlier at 8:30 in the morning.

"It seems unlikely they'd come all the way out here at 8:30 in the morning. If I thought it was legitimate wouldn't mind paying, and will pay if I have to pay, but I don't think legitimate. As I say I clean it up every morning," said Connie.

Connie plans to fight the ticket-but, the court date is the same day her granddaughter is going to have a baby. We may have found the problem at 4 o'clock today when they city emailed us the photos of the trash they say they found. Judging from the photos it doesn't look like Hamilton's house, they city is investigating.

Stay with Fox 29 for updates on Connie's fight.
