Things You Can Find In Vending Machines: Soda, Chips … Marijuana?

DENVER – There are vending machines, and then there are vending machines...

Customers at Doctor's Orders Medical Clinic in North Denver are getting verified for a vending machine purchase on what's called the Zazzz.

"We tried to create a product that would assist in business efficiencies for small businesses which most medical dispensaries are," said Stephen Shearin, of American Green Technology.

Well, the Zazzz machine will really pay big dividends when the shop is busy. That's because a budtender won't have to leave the counter to grab edibles out of the cooler. He'll simply send the customer right to the Zazzz.

"You go to the supermarket, you see the speedy checkout lane. It's never going to replace the people who are helping you. But for some people who come in like today, there are a lot of people here," Shearin said.

The vending machine confirms you're at least 18 when you swipe your driver's license.

"Dip it in here," Shearin showed one customer. "It uses the same data base that you'd use in a pharmacies if you're buying a pseudoephedrine."

Choices range from lollipops to gummies and lots of cookies.

For ease you can pay with bit coins or cash.

"Beats the 20 minutes for the wait," said customer David Powell. "Sometimes you come in here and it's real packed. So, you just go in here, slip your ID in, and you're good."

"If you just want an edible, it's good to just come in, check it in, get it out and leave," customer Jennifer Verda said.

Today, edibles, tomorrow pre-bagged flowery medication, as the ever changing world of weed continues to grow up, FOX's Jon Bowman reported from Denver's Lower Highlands.
