Revel Hotel Casino Begins 2-Day Shutdown

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

The landscape is changing along the Atlantic City boardwalk. The Revel Hotel and Casino is beginning the process of shutting down.

The hotel closes Monday. And the casino closes Tuesday. The exact time has been moved up to 5 a.m.

Revel has only been open for two years.

It is the second Atlantic City casino to close its doors, in as many days.

After 27-years on the A.C. boardwalk, the Showboat closed its doors for good Sunday.

More than 2,000 workers are out of a job following Showboat's shutdown. Fewer than 500 of them are transferring to other casinos the company owns in New Jersey and other states.

In addition to the Showboat and Revel casinos, Trump Plaza will shut down for good on Sept. 16.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley has more details in the above video reports, including a look at some apparent evidence of souvenir hunting at the Revel.
